GENERAL PURPOSE:

Responsible for sales productivity and profit for assigned inventory, for hiring, training, leading, managing and directing the sales team and processes to achieve sales goals and department productivity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (responsibilities are not listed in priority order)

1 Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales goals for each sales person, projecting expected sales volume and profits for existing customers, new and conquest accounts to meet corporate goals.

2 Manage inventory by age and days’ supply.

3 Direct both wholesale and retail efforts.

4 Facilitate dealership trades including pricing and disposition strategy of units.

5 Maintain sales volume and selling margins by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic and industry indicators and competition.

6 Maintain sales staff by recruiting, selecting, orientating, training, motivating and coaching sales staff.

7 Assist sales professionals in targeting new accounts and prospecting activities.

8 Make customer calls with sales professionals and provide required assistance in proposing, closing, financing, leasing and contract maintenance.

9 Act as a liaison between Vocational Sales department and other sales related units.

10 Develop workable implementation plans; build commitment and overcomes resistance.

11 Directly supervise a team in the Vocational Sales Department, including interviewing,

hiring, terminating and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising

performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving conflicts.

  11. PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  12. 13 Maintain regular attendance as scheduled.
  1. Vision – requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  2. Sensory – requires use of hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear.
  3. Agility – requires ability to step up into or down from the cab of a medium/heavy duty vehicle.1 Five to ten years proven sales experience in heavy duty and/or medium duty truck industry.3 Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.5 Ability to define problems, collect accurate data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variant of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.7 Must be organized and possess excellent time management skills.9 Must be skilled in customer service relations and act in a professional manner in all facets of customer service.11 Must have solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  4. 12 Must be flexible to travel, including overnight, as needed.
  5. 10 Present neat, clean, professional appearance of self and use proper business etiquette.
  6. 8 Must be accurate with information and reporting.
  7. 6 CDL license preferred or be willing to obtain that license.
  8. 4 Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  9. 2 Proven leadership skills and ability to manager diverse sales staff maintaining good relationships with dealership management staff and dealership department.
